A 3-day Summer Camp

The PEPP program at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy invites first-generation low-income students or students from minority-serving institutions (i.e., Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions) to participate in a unique 3-day summer camp.

This program is designed for individuals interested in health professions or biomedical sciences, offering an opportunity to explore the field of pharmacy and develop valuable connections within the healthcare community.

PEPP Camp participants are expected to:

  • Attend the full 3 days of the camp
  • Reflect upon their experiences during and after camp
  • Stay connected with their assigned PEPP camp members
  • Complete surveys over the next few years to track your interest and progress in the field of pharmacy.
Summer 2025 Program

Program dates: May 18 to May 22, 2025 . Activities will run daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m .

Activities will include:
  • Exposure to the diverse field of pharmacy:
    • Visits to different types of pharmacy practice environments (retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, etc.)
    • Visits to the UT College of Pharmacy facilities
    • Presentations by current practicing pharmacists in various fields
  • Faculty, Staff, and Peer-to-Peer Mentorship:
    • Admissions process and requirements session
    • Resume/CV review session
    • "Interview Day" simulation
  • Fun activities:
    • Hands-on, interactive activities with current College of Pharmacy faculty, staff, and students
    • "Phamily" dinners with fellow participants
    • Tours of the cultural centers and identity-centric/friendly spaces on campus
Stipend, Housing, Transportation and Meals:
  • Travel stipend of $200
  • Single Room accommodations in a modern dorm on campus
  • Meal plan included
  • Capital Metro Bus system, free for program participants, enables transport both through campus as well as throughout the extensive network of coverage across Austin
  • Parking is available and paid for by the program in a nearby parking garage
Timeline:
  • January 10: Application site opens
  • March 1: Review of applications begins, priority deadline
  • April 1: Decisions sent to applicants
  • May 18: Check-in to on campus housing
  • May 19 : Program begins (8am)
  • May 21: Program ends (evening)
  • May 22: Check-out of housing
Qualifications

Eligibility for PEPP Summer 2025:
  • Underrepresented minority or first-generation college student
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Interest in the health professions or biomedical sciences
Application Instructions

All application materials must be submitted through this Interfolio application portal by March 1, 2025 .

Four (4) Required elements of the application:

  1. Current college transcript that indicates most recent cumulative GPA (scanned unofficial copy/screen capture through latest term is adequate)
  2. Essay:
    • The statement must address: 1) why you would like to participate in the PEPP camp; AND 2) what you wish to accomplish during your participation in the program. Essay should not exceed 500 words.
  3. Resume
  4. One (1) Letter of Recommendation from Professor, Supervisor or Mentor who can speak to your potential as an applicant

What is the dress code?
