Job Title: Crypto Software Engineer
Location: Remote California
Duration: 6 Months plus
Pay Range: $58/hr-$65/hr on W2

Join the User Economy team in this contractor role, working on an exciting initiative that enables users to earn money through various company products such as Awards, Premium, Collectible Avatars, and more. We're redefining how users engage with and monetize their contributions, shaping the future of the company's creator ecosystem.


We are specifically hiring a Backend Engineer with deep expertise in crypto. This role is essential to integrating blockchain technologies across all our user monetization products. Crypto experience is not optional-it is a hard requirement.


What You'll Do:

• Build and scale backend systems powering crypto-enabled monetization experiences across Awards, Premium, Collectible Avatars, and future User Economy products.
• Design and implement smart contract interactions, token-based systems, and decentralized infrastructure.
• Work closely with cross-functional partners to shape the long-term crypto strategy for Reddit's creator ecosystem.
• Own the full development lifecycle: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Define backend standards and mentor others to raise the bar for technical excellence and crypto fluency on the team.

Who You Are:
You are a crypto expert. You've built and shipped blockchain-integrated products and have hands-on experience with smart contracts, crypto wallets, or tokenomics at scale.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
• 3+ years of designing scalable distributed systems.

• Skilled in backend languages like Golang, Python, or Java.
• Deep understanding of protocols like GraphQL, REST, gRPC, or Thrift.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and moving fast in a product-focused environment.
