HOURS: 12-15 hours/week, Sunday mornings requiredESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe responsibilities of the Director of Community Life & Spiritual Formation include, but are not limited to:Develop and oversee engaging, age-appropriate ministry experiences for children.Recruit, train, and lead a diverse team of gifted volunteers.Create opportunities and provide resources to support family faith development beyond Sundays.Ensure a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment aligned with the churchs mission.Collaborate with youth leaders to foster meaningful connections between children and teens.Build strong, faith-forming relationships with children and their families.Partner with community leaders to reach new families and build impactful connections.Implement curriculum consistent with Wesleyan technology and age-level needs.Organize and oversee children and youth participation in summer camps (e.g., United and Heartland), including promotion, registration, coordination with families, and logistical planning.Lead the development and execution of family ministry outreach events (e.g., PJs and Pancakes, seasonal socials), designed to foster community connection and spiritual engagement beyond Sunday programming.Support the youth ministry (middle and high school) by scheduling, preparing resources, and providing administrative assistance as needed.Manage ministry budget and resources in coordination with the Finance Team.Lead complice with Safe Gatherings policies to protect children and vulnerable adults.QUALIFICATIONSTo fulfill the expectations of the role, the Family Ministry Director should demonstrate the following: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEAssociates or bachelors degree or equivalent experience.Proven experience in child development and educationDeep commitment to Christian growth, meaningful relationships, authentic faith, and excellence.SKILLS & ATTRIBUTESStrong spiritual maturity and commitment to Waypoints valuesFollower of Jesus Christ with a heart for community and the next generationExcellent interpersonal, communication (oral, written, and listening), and organizational skillsAbility to work well with young children and their parentsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyAbility to identify, recruit, equip, and lead volunteers toward the churchs missionExperience or willingness to learn supervisory and leadership skillsStrong ethical leadership and active listening abilitiesAbility to anticipate needs, solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstancesCommitted to cultural sensitivity, diversity, equity, and inclusionCoachable, with a desire for lifelong learning and spiritual growthAttend meetings as requiredMaintain confidentiality, particularly in matters of spiritual careClear vision and direct communicationAbility to create a trusting, supportive environmentQualities of a servant-leaderPERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS + OTHER REQUIREMENTSOptimistic, respectful demeanor.Flexibility and patience.Ability to create a trusting, supportive environment.Clear vision and direct communication.Optimistic, respectful demeanor with flexibility and patienceValues, honors, and respects all peopleStrong belief in Waypoints core.Models Waypoints Essential Five Practices for faithful living.Understands and embraces our Wesleyan heritage and United Methodist theology and teachings.Must complete Safe Gatherings training and pass a background check before starting employment.Complete at least one spiritual development opportunity outside of Waypoint per year.
