Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Mechanical QA/Inspector with a strong background in heavy construction to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of mechanical installations and systems on large-scale industrial projects. This is a 5–6 days a week onsite role, 40–60 hours depending on the GC schedule. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in construction environments and a deep understanding of mechanical codes and standards, including:

- NFPA 91 – Standard for Exhaust Systems for Air Conveying of Vapors, Gases, and Mists

- NFPA 54 – National Fuel Gas Code

- NFPA 58 – Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code

- NFPA 85 – Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code

- ASME Codes – Especially ASME B31.1 (Power Piping) and ASME B31.3 (Process Piping)

- OSHA Standards – 29 CFR 1910 Subpart M (Mechanical Power Transmission), Subpart G (Ventilation), and Subpart H (Hazardous Materials)

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Conduct detailed inspections of mechanical systems, piping, HVAC, and equipment installations on industrial construction sites.

- Verify compliance with applicable NFPA, ASME, and OSHA standards.

- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

- Perform testing and verification using tools such as pressure gauges, flow meters, infrared thermometers, and vibration analyzers.

- Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.

- Collaborate with general contractor and other trades onsite to resolve issues.

- Monitor installation practices to ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.

- Support commissioning and turnover activities by validating system readiness.

- Conduct detailed inspections of mechanical systems during construction and renovation phases.

- Identify and report non-conformances, and verify corrective actions.

- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.

- Travel to project sites as needed, sometimes on short notice (work for the next 6 months will be in Normal, IL.

Required Skills & Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical inspection and heavy construction.

- In-depth knowledge of NFPA mechanical codes and ASME piping standards.

- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and mechanical safety practices.

- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical schematics and construction documents.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Certification as a Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) is preferred

- ICC or ASME certification

Hourly Range: $40-$45/hr

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm ( This is a 5–6 days a week onsite role, 40–60 hours depending on the GC schedule)

Hiring Method: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
