Nature Center Support - Facility & Grounds Job Title: Nature Center Support - Facility & Grounds Position Type: Support Staff Classification: 25 Department: Biology Benefits Summary: Eligible for voluntary employee contributions into the TIAA 403(b), up to specified federal limits. Job Summary: ONU is seeking to hire two qualified individuals to assist with the part-time care and oversight of the ONU Henry and Geraldine Metzger Nature Center (MNC) near Stone Creek, Ohio. The time commitment will vary from 2-10 hours per week based on the season and weather conditions. These individuals will assist with the running of the Metzger Nature Center and support the ONU student-centered courses that take place at this facility. Location: Located near Sugarcreek, Ohio, the ONU MNC is a residential, 78-acre field station with four primary buildings that supports teaching and learning of up to 20 faculty and students from Ohio Northern University throughout the months of August through May and occasionally throughout the summer. Scope: Ohio Northern University (ONU) is seeking part-time assistance with the grounds and facility upkeep at the ONU Henry and Geraldine Metzger Nature Center. Assist in the maintenance of the Metzger Nature Center grounds. Respond to notifications from the onsite security and fire detection systems. Perform snow removal from driveways when needed. Contact and coordinate local contractors for quotes on repairs and maintenance. Interact with contractors and coordinate outside repairs and maintenance with the MNC director and MNC facility supervisor. Perform basic repairs to infrastructure. Conduct weekly inspections of the infrastructure (when classes are not present) and inspections after storm events. Maintain facility feeders and wildlife houses. Mowing in selected regions of the property. Mowing of ~2-5 acres will take place approximately every two weeks from April to September, depending on weather conditions. Required Skills: A flexible schedule, which may involve responding to emergencies and calls from the facility security company and local first responders.
