Role Summary

The PICC Nurse Specialist will collaborate with healthcare providers to secure reliable venous access for patients requiring PICC lines, particularly those with challenging venous access. This role utilizes advanced techniques to place peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC) for selected patients across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough assessments to establish intravenous access in patients with difficult venous access.
• Evaluate and address complex intravenous access needs for patients, placing PICC lines as ordered by physicians.
• Identify educational needs related to advanced IV skills among staff and lead supportive training initiatives.
• Exercise independent clinical judgment in accordance with established protocols.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree).
• Current RN license in Texas or Multi-State Compact License; Texas RN License within 60 days of hire for Compact License holders.
• Certification as a PICC RN through an accredited course.
• Minimum of 3 years of critical care nursing experience, preferably in an ICU setting.
