County of San Diego Department of Public Works Senior Land Surveyor Interviews will start the week of August 11, 2025. Future Salary Increases:

  • * June 2026 - 5.57% increase to base pay(3.5% Across-the-Board + 2.07% Market Adjustment)
  • * June 2027 - 5.07% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 2.07% Market Adjustment)
The Department of Public Works (DPW) has a vacancy for a Senior Land Surveyor! This Senior Land Surveyor position will supervise a team of survey positions that perform highly complex surveys and engineering projects. This position will support DPWs Land Surveying Section providing topographic, boundary, and construction services for Road Improvement and Bridge Projects, County Airports, Wastewater, and the Parks & Recreation Department, both in the office and field. This exciting job offers a broad range of projects from the various trails of San Diego’s Park Preserves to large scale construction or reviewing Record of Surveys or complex subdivision maps. The Senior Land Surveyor is used in theDepartment of Public Works, Planning & Development Services, and the Department of General Services . This eligible list will be used to fill immediate and future vacancieswithin the Department of Public Works. Senior Land Surveyors are responsible for supervising, coordinating, and performing professional land survey work and engineering survey office work. This position is the lead/supervisory-level class in the Land Surveyor series. For additional information on this job class, please click here. Minimum Qualifications Registration by the State of California as a licensed professional Land Surveyor or Civil Engineer; AND, Two (2) years of post-registration experience performing professional land surveying work, OR Two (2) years of experience as a Land Surveyor with the County of San Diego. Note: Supervisory experience in planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the work of subordinate professional licensed land surveyors is highly desirable. Note: Land Surveyors must be licensed by the State of California as a Professional Land Surveyor (Business and Professional Code).
